Therapy at CCPC
The goal of therapy at Conscious Culture Psychology Clinic is a rise in consciousness by focusing on three-main internal strengths:
Awareness, Confidence, + Empowerment
CCPC offers individual therapy to adolescents and adults. This approach is beneficial for individuals feeling a sense of disconnect.
Therapy generally occurs weekly in 50-minute sessions. Talk therapy is a process aimed at facilitating change to achieve balance and healing to lead a healthier and more enjoyable life. Therapy can be used for seeking guidance, emotional stability, self-understanding, a balanced lifestyle, and/or skills to manage life stressors. A plan is developed to include specific goals agreed upon by both the client and provider to work on.
CCPC psychotherapy services are designed to provide a mindful, strength based, health focused, culturally competent, trauma informed, and holistic psychological approach.
Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is a process to help individuals heal and develop skills to lead healthier and more enjoyable lives. Psychotherapy can be used for seeking guidance, emotional stability, or skills to manage life stressors.
Psychotherapeutic goals:
✓Empowerment: Dr. Mihecoby’s theoretical orientation aims to facilitate an increase in consciousness to access the skills necessary to live an intentional and balanced life.
✓Awareness: Developing skills and practices to increase bio-physiological regulation can significantly impact overall health, emotional stability, and self-control.
✓Confidence: Mind-body therapies increase emotional intelligence (e.g., emotional identification, expression, and communication) that help you feel more confident in relationships and daily life.
This approach is beneficial for individuals feeling a sense of disconnect due to trauma, stress, or as result of difficulty with relationships, emotions, or achieving personal goals.
Tips for Virtual Therapy
Virtual therapy is not ideal but very convenient during this time. After a few sessions, virtual therapy becomes comfortable and obviously effective despite the absence of in person interaction. We encourage you to honor your session time the same as you would if coming into our office. Having a quiet private space and free-standing device is ideal for virtual therapy. Here are some tips for preparing for virtual therapy.
1. Identify a quiet private space:
• bedroom
• office
• car
• bathroom
2. Limit distractions. Let others, who may potentially disturb you, know you will be on an important video conference call best undisturbed.
• Lock doors.
• Avoid taking phone calls or text messages.
• Avoid multitasking. Avoid eating, smoking, browsing the internet, and answering emails. Therapy requires your focus.
3. Do what you need to be comfortable speaking freely. If you do not have access to private space and others are in the same building:
• Use head-phones.
• Play soft music in the back-ground, not too loudly.
• Soundproof the door with pillows or white noise machines.
4. Gather necessary therapy tools you may need:
• Tissue
• Sage
• Note taking materials
• Water
5. Establish eye contact. Practice looking at the person you are talking to you in therapy in and in life. After a few minutes of adjustment, virtual therapy can be as effective as regular in person sessions.
6. Have a technology back up plan. If the video connection is problematic you will want to connect by phone. Be sure we have your current contact information updated.
7. Invoices are now electronic. We are upgrading our system to make this process easier for our staff. For questions about invoicing please feel free to email CCPC's Business Manager, Natalie Perez.
8. Keep in mind policies continue to change regarding virtual therapy, co-share costs, and coverage. Make sure you know your insurance policies regarding telehealth coverage. Ms. Perez is happy to assist you if you need support.
