2023 Conscious Culture Mental Health Festival (Each Saturday in May 2023)

Integrating mental health professionals and Indigenous community healers.

Join us for this free event each Saturday in May and learn how Indigenous practices can work with other mental health resources to bring healing to mind, body and soul.

WHEN: Saturdays May 6, May 13, May 20 and May 27 | 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

PROGRAM SCHEDULE:

9:00am – Registration & Drink Bar
Register and receive free raffle and lunch tickets. Visit our drink bar presented by two Latinx owned Pico Rivera businesses
Natural Choice Healthy Foods and La Botaneria (both located on Whittier Blvd in Pico Rivera) with a delicious coffee substitute, teas recommended for mental health, and spa lemon-cucumber water.

9:30am – Sage Cleansing, Land Acknowledgement, Prayer & Song by Indigenous Community Leaders
Guillermo “TataG” Hernandez, Raul Garcia, of the Huichol tribal people of Santa Catarina, Mexico; CCAP - Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, a substance abuse counselor at American Indian Counseling Center, Cerritos CA, Gina Arvisu, Tongva tribe, LMFT.

10:00am – A Mindful Breakfast
Led by Eve Valladares, a bilingual English Spanish dietician at a local hospital and creator of
YouTube channel Siempre Salud 101. She will guide you through a mindful breakfast by Andrea’s Healthy Kitchen created By Tatiana Pacheco. Andrea’s Healthy Kitchen is a Hispanic and woman-Owned business located at 3513 Johnson Ave, El Monte CA. It is an all-natural juice bar and coffee shop committed to providing the healthiest, most nutritious juices, smoothies, bowls, and tasty, healthy delights with a strong commitment to bringing health and wellness through fresh, natural, high-quality ingredients.

Andrea’s Healthy Kitchen. Try the Southwest Chicken Salad OR Chicken Wrap (with chips and salsa provided by La Botaneria) OR vegetarian beet salad with egg salad sandwich.

CCPC green for Mental Health Awareness umbrellas and shirts by donation!

1 Generation Counseling Services LLC: Indigenous healing providing holistic and trauma informed care to families & individuals, located in El Monte, CA.

Viva Play LLC: Creating safe spaces for parents and children (0-5) by integrating developmentally age appropriate play and cultural customs and traditions as a foundation for resilient and regulated livelihood; located in Montebello, CA.

Reiki Master - Monica Hernandez is a gentle, noninvasive holistic healer who help facilitate energetic balance and offers brief consultations to our guests, gratuities appreciated.

Gracias a La Vida Midwifery: Pati Garcia, with roots from Peru and Mexico and located in Pomona, is a certified professional midwife, sexological bodyworker, somatic sex educator, and Curanderx/sobadorx. One of six Chicanx midwives in Los Angeles share empowering anatomy and self-help knowledge through popular education with her team. She and Jas Castillo provide brief consultations, gratuities appreciated.

Spiritual Healer: Cindy Canek is a spiritual healer that specializes in trauma, using quantum healing hypnosis and regression. She is an intuitive coach, medium and psychic on a mission to help souls find their freedom!

Whittier Pride: Greater Whittier area Pride organization with a mission to support the youth in our community.

LACPA Los Angeles College Prep – a small school that centers student and staff wellness as the foundation for academic growth and community liberation.
·
California Native Vote Project - CNVP, is the first-of-its-kind statewide effort to engage Native American communities across dozens of counties to build political power through an integrated voter engagement strategy.
·
United American Indian Involvement Community Health Worker – provide referrals within and outside UAII and provide PPE (personal protective equipment) to the community.
·
San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Tribal Court – provide resources on court process and procedures, including proper court dress etiquette, form completion, anything that has to with court, located in Highland, San Bernardino County.
·
Natural Choice Healthy Foods – Pico Rivera’s health food store has provided supplements, CBD, and healthy energy nugget samples to our guests.
·
La Botaneria – Yojasi Lomas with Sinaloa MX roots will share his raspados made with substitute sugar just for you to sample and fruits with substitute salts from Natural Choice Healthy Foods.
·
Andrea’s Healthy Kitchen – Tatiana Pacheco will be there to answer questions and provide you with information about her healthy kitchen in El Monte.

12: 12:30pm – Mental Health Doc Talk with Renee Garcia, MD
Ask a question to a former Pico Rivera resident who studied at CSULA, Loma Linda University, USC, and Stanford who now practices emergency medicine at a local hospital ER will be there to answer questions about psychotropic medications and mental health.

1:00pm – Sound Bath Education and Session by Flourish Sound Studio Wellness Center
Co-created by Athenea Hernandez & Lizette Nevarez, Flourish Sound Studio provides sound therapy in Downey. They will share their healing talents with the community.

2:00pm – Gratitude & Generosity Reception
